Using the Aussie Girthing System

The near side (the side from which you mount) shows the function of the traditional girthing system. The forward buckle of the girth engages the strap that is attached to the saddle. The strap that is attached to the girth goes up through the ring of the surcingle (the wide strap going over the the top of the saddle), and then goes back to the rear buckle. This gives opportunity to get tension on the girth, with a pulley effect. No need to count holes. Get as much tension on the girth strap as is desired, then engaged whatever hole is possible on the leading billet. Our standard girth is neoprene with nylon appointments, as shown. The forward billet is attached to the saddle, the rear billet is the end of the surcingle, that goes over the top of the saddle, down through a slot on either side of the outer flaps. This system provides an under and over purchase for safety.
