QUART POT This is a legendary piece of equipment that is literally on
EVERY saddle in the outback. In the bush, people working cattle in hot,
harsh climates do not drink cold water, because it can make you sick if
your body is hot. Instead, they drink HOT liquids, tea being the
preference, because if you take in hot liquid on a hot day, it triggers
your body to cool down. So the QUART POT, made today of stainless steel, is used to boil water
above a small fire, tea leaves are dropped in, and then the drink is ready
to refresh the worker. The top pulls out to make a cup. The cup telescopes
into the main container. There are folding handles on both the main pot, and
the cup. Covers come in tan or black. PRICE: $99 |

The QUART POT can also be used for cooking. If you are working cattle for a
few hours, and your fire still has coals, drop a chunk of beef in the pot,
or flesh of anything else you just killed, with water and garlic, or whatever other pieces are
handy and bury it in the coals, and it will be ready for lunch. It is also
an easy to get a drink while crossing a body of water. Tie to QUART POT to
your reins, drop it in the water, and there it is, in your hand. You do not
have to dismount to get a drink of water. Just another of those very, very
old ideas that have lived on for a couple of hundred years in the bush. |

Large Wither Bags
Wither bags are an incredible idea for the HORSE. They place the
weight over the front legs, THE CENTER OF GRAVITY. Our wither bags are
inspired by the ammunition bags used by the Australian Light Horse, a
legendary cavalry that made history by mounting the most successful
charge EVER in recorded military documents : Beersheba, Sinai, 1917. Six
hundred men caused the capture of 75,000 enemy. The manual said the
bags, filled with ordinance, should not weigh more than 68 lbs!! Anyhow,
enough of history.
Colors Black or brown.
Price $139
|

|
The bags work, OK. Any weight placed in front of the
saddle, over the center of gravity, is FOUR TIMES more acceptable to the
horse than weight placed BEHIND the saddle. Which is why Australians have
only SMALL saddle bags mounted on the rear.
|
Small
Wither Bag
The
Small/
English wither bag is inspired by the pouches carried by English
gentlemen, 400 years ago. On one side was the powder and balls, ram rods and
wadding, along with some personal items. On the other, was a flint-lock
pistol. Today, it remains a very handy place to carry such personal items as
cell phone, sandwiches, drinks. And the good thing about this set of bags is
when you want something, while you are sitting on your horse, IT IS RIGHT
THERE IN FRONT OF YOU.
Colors black or brown.
Price, $119.
|

No turning around to unclip saddle bags behind the saddle, causing your
horse to do one of those wonderful circles on the edge of a drop-off!. Also,
a great place to have a camera, or digital video recorder. A fine very
old idea that time has released -- once again.
They are 7" deep, by 6 1/2" wide, with a 4 1/2" gusset.
