Leather Maintenance Instructions
l. First thoroughly clean the saddle with SADDLE SOAP, using a soft bristle brush to get into the pores of the stitching, etc. Wash off the suds with clean water, then towel dry. Then let dry naturally on a sunny day. Will take maybe three hours. It is not necessary to take the saddle apart to do this!,
2. Use LEATHER KEEP to work over any scratches on the saddle. Rub this product into the scratched leather, using a metal ball, as found on a ball pane hammer. The bottom of a glass bottle or glass tumber will also work.
3. Use WENOL to polish the brass, starting with a cotton cloth, then finishing with a paper towel.
4. Use the enclosed brush to apply a single coating of the SADDLE OIL.(Do not get oil on the sheepskin!) Let the oil soak in before the next step.
5. Use the supplied square of sheepskin, permiated with ONE STOP for the second and final application. Only one pass is needed. Let dry. This product will leave a thin film of beeswax that, when buffed with a paper towel, will give your leather a lively luster!
6. Return the sheepskin to the ziplock bag, stow it in the barn and, thereafter, once a week, lightly rub the sheepskin over the saddle. If you spend longer than one minute doing this you are wasting time!
7. Depending on conditions where you ride, it is a good idea to repeat all
the above at least once a year. Kit

Leather Keep
LEATHER KEEP is an amazing restorer of leather that is scratched, or cracked -- especially shoe leather.
It softens, preserves, and waterproofs. If your shoes are tight, lather this on and wear them,
and in a couple of hours they will fit! Works great on leather couches, baseball gloves, and leather balls.
With saddlery, scrathes will literally disappear if you first clean the surface with SADDLE SOAP,
then rub the scratch with a smooth clean surface, such as the bottom of a glass tumbler,
and then rub in the LEATHER KEEP. The scratch will greatly diminish.
Then treat the whole area with ONE STOP. Price $15 for 125 grams.

aboriginals have used it for thousands of years to reduce arthritis

totally waterproof.
Price $20.00 for 14.1 OZ can
COLIN' TIP: Soak coat overnight in water NO DETERGENT.
Brush and let dry. Must be completely free of dirt. Float re-proofing
container in boiling water until contents become liquid. Apply directly from
container using a suitable paintbrush. Use sparingly and work well into the
fabric. If you want it to look like it just came from the factory, hit it
gently with a hair blower. If you want it to look more like leather, rub it
in with your hand. And then HANG FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS IN A WARM, DRY PLACE. |

How to use Reproofing Cream
Here is what I did with my own Oilskin Coat: age 2l years! It finally got more
leaks than Watergate. So I decided to give it a bullet-proof treatment.
To maintain a coat after just SEVERAL years, simply soak the coat in
water overnight, let it dry, then apply a SPARING coat of reproofing
cream that has been boiled in the container, and as a result has the
consistency of water. Then apply this to the coat ,using a simple paint
brush , AS IT IS HANGING OUT IN THE SUN. Then let it dry for at least a
week, in a breezy sunny area. At least twice, pass over the coat with a
hair dryer, removing excess oil with a terry cloth. You should use about
two-thirds of a container of OAKWOOD Reproofing on a full length coat.
Then let it hang in a breezy dry area for another couple of weeks -- or
until the rains come! However, with my very old coat, I did a major
job. I LOVE this coat. Slept on the ground in several countries in
it.( So I'm a romantic as well as cheap! ) I soaked the coat, scrubbed
it (no detergent) let it dry completely, and, in sunlight, painted on
the OAKWOOD. I used one and one half containers of OAKWOOD. Then I blew
it on HIGH with a hair dryer, to get the treatment well into the fabric.
Five times I did the hair dryer treatment over one month. removing
excess oil each time with a cloth. The result was spectacular. This coat
will never leak as long as I live! And now it looks like LEATHER. Way
cool! Colin
